TbXie's Cyclone Slayer Build Guide Gear, Jewels and Flasks (PoE Necropolis)
Summary – TL;DR
As per usual, nothing matters more than capping your Elemental Resistance before anything else. This means modifiers on gear are subordinate to Resistances as long as you’re not capped. Since you’ll be running a decent amount of Unique items, it’ll be important to look out for a lot of resistances on your Rare pieces!
We’re providing you with an extensive analysis further down the page but chose to start off with an overview / recommendation.
Our recommendation:
Item Slot | Item Name |
Head | Abyssus |
Amulet | Rare Amulet with Attributes, Crit Multiplier, Life, Crit Chance, Phys to Attacks |
Chest | Rare Armour Base with Life, Resistances & Phys taken As Fire |
Gloves | Rare Armour Gloves with Life, Attack Speed, Resistances & Damage while Leeching |
Boots | Rare Boots with Life, Movement Speed, Chill & Freeze Immunity & Resistances |
Belt | Really well-rolled Ryslatha's Coil |
Rings | Rare Rings with Chaos Res, Resistances, Life, Vuln on Hit and – Cost of Channeling Skills |
Weapon | Atziri's Disfavour |
Armour Pieces
Helmet
The Abyssus is a mandatory gearpiece. Get one early, don’t care too much about the rolls and eventually upgrade to a well-rolled copy. At the very latest game steps, you can perhaps try and find one with a nice corruption.
Body Armour
Honestly, this is a versatile slot. You could use this to bump your damage up even further, by going for an awakeners orb with Attack Crit & Additional Curse which frees up your anoint and gets you critcap, but I honestly think we deal enough damage and opted for a cheaper alternative.
The chest piece mentioned here underneath is honestly super easy to acquire. You just want Life, Armour, Resistances (these are flexible, the example uses Chaos Resistance, but honestly, you can swap resistances around across the board), and a conversion craft. You further abuse this conversion craft by getting a Maximum Resistance implicit (this can either be Lightning or Fire, as the craft converts to both elements or a +1 to All Maximum Resistances). Your other Eldritch Implicit should be “Melee hits Fortify” here and then you swap your Fortification Mastery to +3 Maximum Fortification.
Gloves
Again, basic pair of gloves which is carried by Searing / Eater implicits. Should be fairly easy to obtain.
- +# to maximum Life (at least 80)
- +# to Resistances (until cap)
- #% increased Attack Speed
- Crafted #% increased Damage while Leeching
Boots
Again, simple rare piece of gear. You’re generally only on the hunt for Life, Movement Speed and some Resistances. However, optimally, you use Suffixes Cannot be changed, on a pair with perfect suffixes, & Veiled Chaos Orb to guarantee Movement Speed as well as Cannot be Chilled. Afterwards, through either Brine King Pantheon or another Craft you’ll be Freeze & Chill Immune.
If you opt into The Brine King which is fine honestly, you can buy a pair of boots (non-influenced) with perfect Suffixes, craft “Suffixes Cannot be Changed” and veiled Chaos until you hit Movement Speed + Chill and finish off with a Life Craft.
Getting the Brittle Ground Eldritch implicit literally is the single strongest modifier on all of your gear. Get it ASAP even if it’s a really low roll with lesser ichors.
- Brittle implicit
- #% increased Movement Speed (at least 25, ideally 30)
- +# to maximum Life (at least 80)
- +#% to Resistances (until cap)
- Chance to Avoid being Chilled (later on)
Belt
A Ryslatha's Coil is your unique of choice here. Try to get a really really well-rolled one and afterwards use attack catalysts.
Accessories
Amulet
This is a pretty versatile slot. You should probably follow the guide and opt for a defensive chest & a Whispers of Doom anoint. Of course, this is an anoint which is a tad more expensive. We offer early-game-alternatives in the PoB.
- Required Attributes
- Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks (preferably 15+)
- #% to Global Critical Strike Multiplier (30)
- +# to maximum Life
- #% increased Global Critical Strike Chance
Anoint
The recommended anoint is Whispers of Doom, giving you access to double curse on bosses.
Rings
You’re going to be looking for Life and Resistances here. I honestly prefer Amethyst Rings as a base because Chaos Resistance is so nice nowadays. You’ll be looking for one Warlord Ring with Vulnerablitiy on Hit. Other than that, you need to have an open prefix on both of them to craft a -cost of channeling skills on the crafting bench. Note that the Warlord’s ring showcased here is pretty strong but that you can get by with one which has less or no life and a tad less resistances when you’re in the earlier process of gearing.
- Channelling Skills have -3 tot Total Mana Cost
- Resistances
- Life
- Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
Accuracy
In both lategame PoB’s, unless you’re running an Enlighten L4 and/or an Anomalous Precision, your precision wont be able to be high level enough to cap your Hit Chance. Therefore, you’re going to need about 450 Accuracy on gear somewhere. This can be found on a ring, an amulet or your Gloves and an Accuracy Roll (Flat or Percent) on a Jewel.
Weapon
Short section here. The guide is built around having a Atziri's Disfavour. This enables a sick amount of Radius to Cyclone, and just a solid PDPS Weapon that’s not too expensive to get. Easy Solve!
At the very earliest stages of gearing, a Sinvicta's Mettle can carry you for a while.
Flasks
I believe flasks are highly preference-based. One isn’t just outright better than another one for specific/certain builds. Obviously, sometimes, there’s a set in stone set of Flasks you should be using just because they synergize with your build so well. I wouldn’t say those really exist in this setup, but I’d strongly advise you to stick with the setup listed here.
Because this builds crits so often, it can keep up Magic Flasks indefinitely. This knowledge, combined with the fact that this build has other investment requisites, made me steer away from unique Flasks and stick with Magic FLasks.
Regardless of which utility Flasks you go for and whether you follow our recommendations or not, you’ll need to stick to the suffixes we have picked for you. It’s okay to use lower tier rolls initially but please upgrade your flasks as you can because they’re so often undervalued and forgotten:
Our recommendation:
Slot | Flask |
1 | Specialist’s Quicksilver Flask of the Owl |
2 | Specialist’s Silver Flask of the Dove |
3 | Specialist’s Diamond Flask of Incision |
4 | Specialist’s Granite Flask of Armadillo |
5 | Panicked Divine Life Flask of Alleviation |
When you have most of your Damage, combined with Vaal Pact, I recommend dropping the Life Flask in favour of a Basalt Flask.
Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique Flasks.
Jewels
Unique Jewels
First of all, you’re going to be on the hunt for a set of Forbidden Flesh & Forbidden Flame. It doesn’t matter which notable you’re getting as long as you obviously don’t get Bane of Legends, because then you can’t get to Headsman. So basically a set that allocates Headsman, Overwhelm, Brutal Fervour or Impact are all fine. You just use your Ascendancy Points to get to the others. Do note that this build requires all Ascendancies outside of Headsman, so if you don’t have FF jewels, just skip on Headsman.
Next up, get a Watcher's Eye with the Impale Mod that makes impales last for 2 additional hits. This is a roughly 15% Damage Boosts and should be one of your first upgrades once you’re farming decent content.
Cluster Setup
In the late game, you’re using two Large Clusters , 2 Medium Clusters & two Small Clusters (to fix reservation issues & generate endurance charges). Follow them as closely as you can as showcased in Pob/pictures here underneath.
Rare Jewel
The single rare jewel you can be running most likely wants to be something that offers you Increased Max Life, Some reservation efficiency, if you need some (depends again on other gear, enlighten levels, anomalous precision, …), Global Accuracy and maybe some Critical Strike Multiplier.
