Crafting Guide: Basic Helmet
Introduction
This guide will teach you how to craft basic high Energy Shield helmets.
Crafting in Path of Exile can be extremely complex and rather daunting for new players. The video below outlines the most basic information you’ll need before diving into crafting specific items.

The Finished Item
The finished item that you should have at the end of this process is a very high Energy Shield helmet. You can see an example of a completed item below.

The Base
For this craft, you will want your base item to have the highest possible Energy Shield. For helmets, this is the 
Hubris Circlet.
You’ll want to aim for an item level minimum of 84 for Energy Shield focus, as that allows for the highest tiers of Energy Shield modifiers to roll on the item.
When aiming for high Energy Shield, you should prepare the base item by first ensuring that it has 29-30% Quality. This is done with 1-socket Resonators and the 
Perfect Fossil, which will re-roll the item and increase its quality from 1-30%. Once you are satisfied with the Quality, you can move on to the actual crafting process.
Crafting Process
The crafting process is very straightforward. For an Energy Shield-focused approach, you’ll want to spam 1 socket resonators (
Primitive Chaotic Resonator) combined with a 
Dense Fossil and your goal is to get 2-3 high tier Energy Shield rolls. You can always apply a 3rd prefix modifier via your bench-craft. In the best-case scenario, you’ll have 3 prefix Energy Shield providing modifiers, which allows you to bench-craft resistances on the item.
TL;DR
- Get a Hubris Circlet of item level 84+.
- If you’re going for either high armor or ES, bring the quality to 29%-30% using Perfect Fossils in 1-socket Resonators.
- Use Dense Fossil with 1-socket Resonators until you get desirable modifiers. You can bench-craft the remaining modifiers if necessary.
