chaos Damage

So, I am super new to PoE. I have maybe 10 hours played.
I like the Witch, and I have been getting lucky with my Chaos damage. I have some cool gems, and some cool support gems.
For instance, I can cast Blight, and have essentialy a permanent spell-shield that regenerates based off of a percentage of my damage done. Just channel, shield, and then auras.
For now, it works. I would just like to learn more about the game, and better build paths and how the gear system works.
I do not know how to add your or whatever, but if you would be willing to help me learn, and work into using the Chaos Damage as much as possible…Just respond to this post?

For most of your questions, I would recommend exploring the Path of Exile wiki https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Path_of_Exile_Wiki that contains very thorough article explaining every game mechanic and system.
As for your “chaos damage witch”, Once you get to complete the Labyrinth I would recommend you ascend to Occultist, and from there try using a mix of Essence Drain, Contagion and Blight for example. Other things can also work, for example Poe-vault has a Herald of Agony Occultist guide here https://www.poe-vault.com/ . This is mostly chaos damage but more reliant on a pet. You should give it a quick read and see if that might interest you.

The Herald of Agony build is pretty nifty, definitely check it out. I’m personally a big fan of Essence Drain, and I’ll be releasing a guide for a build that incorporates it in a week or so!
